There are
times when you may need to reduce the balance on an outstanding invoice. The question becomes ‘Do I do a Write Down or
Credit Memo?” Both options reduce the balance due on the invoice. The difference is:
Write
Down – Only post to
Accounts Receivable & General Ledger & does not reduce
the Billed to Date amount on the Job.
Credit
Memo – Post to
Accounts Receivable, General Ledger & Job Cost & reduces the Billed to
Date amount on the Job.
